A little surprise was waiting for me in the Potager tonight:
My baby asparagus I put in the Potager last spring are coming up! Of course, they are now only one year old plants, so it will be a while (years) before I can eat them.
I anxiously looked for signs of life among the older plants that I had transplanted in the fall, but there's nothing there . . . yet.
I put my cabbage in last week and we expect snow tonight. We will have to cover our crops to keep them going. I wanted to tell you, I like your fenced in potager. I enjoy looking at different potagers in blogs. That will be very pretty this summer. I started mine a few years ago so I am learning as I design. I'm redesigning several areas this spring since we had to take out a dead apple tree fall 2010. I hated to see it go, but I do have a pear and another apple. They were on the property when we purchased our home 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading what other gardeners are doing. I lost your blog a few weeks ago when I was looking for other bloggers( I'm a newbie) that like to garden and enjoy potagers....my husband and I are empty nesters,too..last one in college.
